Top of the Mountain Bid Successful

July 29 2008

Top of the Mountain logo

The good news this month is that we have been successful in a bid to the Welsh Assembly Government for a new project in Betws where we are based – called Top of the Mountain. It’s a 3 year programme of creative activities working with people of all ages in the village in a range of art forms, and leading up to a community celebration at the end of the project. We will be advertising new posts and projects on the website as this project develops – so come back again to find out more.

This project has been funded via the Rural Development Programme for Wales. This is an exciting success as it marks the beginning of a new future and identity for our community of Betws and the Garw Valley; the coal industry sits behind us as our important industrial past, and the future now looks much greener, with a range of rural development initiatives in the pipleline as part of this 3 year plan for the area.

We have been working in partnership on this large-scale Rural Development Business Plan, of which our project is one element, and it has been a positive process to bid for funding with partner organisations in the area all united in our desire for a greener and positive future.

Thanks also to the Regeneration Funding Team at Bridgend County Borough Council who have been co-ordinating the bid and working with Miller Research (UK) Ltd to pull it all together – success!
