Betws Primary School Festive Fun

December 1 2008

Betws Primary Christmas Play 2007

We are busy working creatively with the children of Betws Junior School in our village during this festive month, preparing for a Christmas concert to be held at the School on December 12th at 6pm. We asked the children what they liked about Christmas and they said “We love Christmas, it brings midwinter light!”

Our Visual Arts Workers Tim Smith and Alison McGann have been enjoying helping the children create poetry, expressing their feelings at this exciting time of year, and some of these poems will be read by the children at the concert. We are also creating lanterns and artwork with children at the school to display at the concert, which will also include singing from the School Choir, Cor Meibion Cwm Garw, and carol singing from our newly-formed Betws Community Choir. Here are some of the children’s poems:

Christmas

Carols spread throughout the land
Holly hangs on mantle pieces and walls
Reindeers and Father Christmas fly through the towns
Ice skaters dance on frozen lakes
Snow falls on me and my friends
Tinsel on trees sparkling in the light
Memories fill my head with delight
Angels on top of a Christmas tree
Sounds like magic to me…

Snowflakes Falling

Snowflakes falling
Snowflakes falling
I like watching snowflakes fall
It makes me think Christmas is coming
I’ll build a snowman 10 foot tall!

Snowflakes falling
Snowflakes falling
I like watching snowflakes fall
It makes me think of Mary and Joseph,
For my snowman’s eyes I’ll use black coal.

Snowflakes falling
Snowflakes falling
I like watching snowflakes fall
It makes me think Christmas is coming
We wish a Merry Christmas to you all!

Christmas Time

C is for carol singing
H is holly on the tree
R is for reindeers in the air
I is for icy snowflakes all around
S is snow on the ground
T is for the tree
M a Merry Christmas shouted out!
A is for angels from heaven above
S is for start sparkling in the night sky
