Ethiopia Film Project

March 10 2009

Gem TV Filming

Our Film Development Worker Tracy Pallant will be trekking off to Ethiopia again this month to work on a new documentary film project.

The film will be exploring cultural heritage in Ethiopia; many invaluable artefacts have been stolen and taken away from the country and the film will follow this story. Tracy will be travelling to Konso in Southern Ethiopia where many of their wooden burial sculptures have been stolen. These burial sculptures are beautiful pieces of artwork and are created when a chief of a tribe dies in Konso; they are such an important part of their cultural heritage and they are being taken away for profit to sell to tourists and art collectors across the world.
