Addis Life Animation Now Online

Addis Life Animation

With support from Wales Arts International, our Film Development Workers Tracy Pallant and Amy Peckham travelled with Gerald Conn from Cinetig to work with Gem TV and Gem Art on a 2 week animation project in Ethiopia.

Animation is a relatively new art form in Ethiopia and its popularity is growing. In the project Gerald taught the group skills in drawing and sand animation. Addis Life focuses on Chaos Junction, a famous landmark in Addis Ababa where school children, street sellers, buses, trains, cows, sheep and shoe-shine boys compete for space, and run the gauntlet from one side of the road to the other.

After the project Gem TV were left with a laptop and animation software so they could continue to develop their skills and produce more animated films using original artwork made by Gem Art artists.
