‘The Magic Forest’ Summer Arts Project

August 19 2010

Summer Arts Project

The Valley and Vale Community Arts summer kids’ arts project went really well this year. In The Magic Forest project in August children from Betws and the Garw Valley took part in lots of activities including making music, paper-making, designing t-shirts, dance and drama workshops, building an outdoor clay pizza oven with Cwm Tawell, and exploring and gathering natural flora to make art with in summer Forest Arts workshops.

We’ve all been exploring the local area and wildlife, gathering ideas and creating art on the theme of our ‘magic forest’. At the end of the 2-week project families and friends came together to enjoy food made by the children, watch a short diary film, and enjoy an exhibition of the artwork made by the children. Thanks to funding from a Community Focussed Schools Childcare Grant, The Arts Council of Wales and Bridgend County Borough Council.
