Person-Centred Creativity Workshop

Our Training and Development Services

At Valley and Vale we have recognised that one of the most effective ways that we can achieve our goals is to build the capacity of others by showing them how they might use creativity in their own work.

We have therefore built on the experience that our track record in successful project delivery has given us and have designed a wide range of bespoke training and development programmes that focus on the use of creativity.

Our latest training programme includes a range of courses in ‘Person-Centred Creativity’:

‘Reflective Journeys’  Person-Centred Creativity Training

These courses were developed by Valley and Vale as a result of a pilot project that was funded by the Arts Council of Wales in 2004. They are based on the belief that creativity is a powerful tool for individual and social change.

The courses focus on the development of interpersonal skills, listening skills, and the ability to work with people in different situations.

We help participants to develop self-awareness, create safe environments in which to work and make space for reflection. The training is designed especially for professionals that work in challenging environments, to provide them with an alternative form of intervention and to more effectively engage with those people that they are seeking to support. The programme, which is accredited to OCN Level 2, is very popular and has been successfully delivered to community artists and professionals working in the Health, Education and Social Inclusion Sectors.

We have also developed other accredited training courses:

OCN Centre Accreditation

Valley and Vale Community Arts is an approved Centre to run OCN-accredited Community Arts courses. The demand for accredited courses and projects has increased over the years as many of the people we work with have difficulties in gaining formal qualifications through mainstream provision.

OCN accreditation offers new opportunities for the future. Having developed courses in Person-Centred Creativity, Community Film, Drama and Dance, we are now working towards a full programme of OCN Accredited Community Arts training courses across our many art forms.
