Cross-Generational Local Arts

There are many opportunities in most communities for young or older people to take part in activities together in their own peer groups.

What seems to be lacking is a wide range of cross-generational activities where people of different ages can come together locally to share and learn from and with each other. For this reason we have identified this as a priority area for the future of our Local Arts programme because we believe that through cross-generational creative work we can bring communities together and create more inclusive, active, cohesive and positive communities.

March 30th, 2012 Betws Choir perform Laura’s Singing Blog This term I have been working with the Betws Community Choir and the residents at Dan y Mynydd Sheltered Accommodation unit in Blaengarw. Both projects had different aims and objectives but came together at the end of term at Dan y Mynydd for both groups in a joint sharing of what they had achieved through the term.
February 23rd, 2012 PHYSICAL FUSION Dance workshops Physical Fusion Dance Platform Blog After a lot of heavy planning and preparation our 30th Birthday Physical Fusion Dance Platform turned out to be a huge success!! A Dance Night filled with a variety of dance acts such as Funk Styles, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Breakin’, Swing Dance, Capoeira and Samba!

November 9th, 2011 Yami Rowdy Leading Dance Workshop Yami Rowdy Dance Workshop We hosted workshops throughout Bridgend and Cardiff in October 2011, spreading the funk bug to all who participated. We chose to open up the age categories this time round, allowing younger dancers to take part. Having such a range of ages and abilities enabled a friendly, carefree atmosphere.
October 31st, 2011 Wellbeing Conference Drama at ESIS Wellbeing Conference 2 We were invited to host a workshop at the Wellbeing Conference for Primary and Secondary teachers in South Wales on 13th and 14th October 2011.
October 24th, 2011 Porthcawl Pavilion Art Club Porthcawl Pavilion Art Club Blog Over the last few years, Tim Smith and I have been working in sunny Porthcawl,... We created paintings, pottery, mosaics, montages and lots, lots more, indoors and outdoors with two fab groups, one group made up of children and the other of adults.
October 17th, 2011 Trinity Church Dance Session 30 Inspirational Stories – A Moment to Remember I was facilitating a dance project for Asylum Seekers and Refugees at Trinity Church in Cardiff, getting down and funky with the All Women Drop In session at Trinity Church, teaching them social dances and partner work.

August 19th, 2011 The Raven in the Trees - the battle Forest Arts Weekend Photo Gallery Valley and Vale Community Arts hosted a family weekend filled with outdoor creativity and local folklore. The families had great fun making fires, creating puppets, building dens, organising a battle, celebrating a wedding and diving into a cauldron!
