Youth Local Arts

Much of our Local Arts programme offers creative activities for children and young people.

We offer Community Arts projects in schools, in After School Clubs, in community venues, at our base in Betws, in the school holidays, and in partnership with other agencies such as Flying Start and Genesis who are involved with parents, children and Early Learning and childcare support and provision.

We are also involved in youth-based networks such as The Extending Entitlement Network, The Children and Young People's Partnership in Bridgend, and work extensively in partnership in this area of our work to make sure that local young people have the best opportunities and support as they grow up.

January 25th, 2012 PhysicŠsion Dance Event Poster Physical Fusion Dance Platform As part of our 30th Birthday Celebrations, Valley and Vale Community Arts is hosting a fun-filled evening of dance performances on February 12th 2012, in partnership with the Grand Pavilion Theatre and supported by The Arts Council of Wales and Bridgend County Borough Council’s Arts and Community Development department.
December 12th, 2011 ADHD Drama Project Being Me: Drama and ADHD Over the last 6 weeks we have been working in partnership with Bridgend Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services running a pilot Drama and Creative Arts project with children in the Maesteg area with ADHD.
December 9th, 2011 Neil White YOSROC at The Court House In early 2010 Bridgend YOS ( Youth Offending Service ) in consultation with young people, who were going through the youth justice system, wanted somehow to engage in creative music sessions.
November 30th, 2011 In Search of Aphrodite ‘What Happened to Aphrodite?’ We have just finished our most recent youth theatre production ‘In Search of Aphrodite’ and it was a huge success... The performance began as an exploration of sexual promiscuity in Bridgend and beyond.
November 21st, 2011 Bryntirion Workshop Papiermache Masks Drama for Emotional Literacy Blog We have been looking at Transactional Analysis as a way of understanding our relationships and discussing how we can relate to others using our parent, adult and child ego states, and how by having some understanding of this we can improve the more dysfunctional relationships in our lives.
November 16th, 2011 Peer Mediation Film Peer Mediation in Practice Over the last six months we have been working with young peer mediators from Maesteg and Ynysawdre Comprehensive School and have produced a DVD called Peer Mediation in Practice.
November 9th, 2011 Yami Rowdy Leading Dance Workshop Yami Rowdy Dance Workshop We hosted workshops throughout Bridgend and Cardiff in October 2011, spreading the funk bug to all who participated. We chose to open up the age categories this time round, allowing younger dancers to take part. Having such a range of ages and abilities enabled a friendly, carefree atmosphere.
October 31st, 2011 Wellbeing Conference Drama at ESIS Wellbeing Conference 2 We were invited to host a workshop at the Wellbeing Conference for Primary and Secondary teachers in South Wales on 13th and 14th October 2011.
October 27th, 2011 Tondu Transitions School Project Tondu Transitions Project At the beginning of this term two of our local schools have merged: Tondu Primary and Pandy Infants in Aberkenfig. As part of their rolling programme to make the transition as smooth and positive as possible they asked for a Drama workshop to be run with every pupil in the school.
