Picture Wales Mural Project

Young people at Hawthorn Comprehensive School in Pontypridd worked with us in 2006 on a Youth Arts and Media project called ‘Picture Wales’. Our project facilitators Alison McGann and Amy Peckham used visual, digital and montage arts with group members to creatively express their thoughts about Wales and what was important to them being Welsh. In the workshops they explored issues of identity, culture, community, history, language and landscape.

Project members had the opportunity to explore different arts and media techniques and their final mixed media/ artwork aimed to inspire others and to facilitate discussions amongst young people around the theme of ‘Picture Wales’. Their work was launched and displayed to much acclaim at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff who supported this project.
