Arts and Business Award Winners

Arts, Business & the Environment Award
RWE npower at Aberthaw approached Valley and Vale Community Arts to create artwork for its new ACE2 Education Centre. The aim was to engage local people and begin greater dialogue between them and the Power Station. Valley and Vale, which itself has a commitment to the environment, devised three Community Arts projects addressing issues of energy; we involved around 100 people of all ages and resulted in two major pieces of public artwork. Thanks to investment from A&B Cymru’s CultureStep programme, a short community film was also produced with young people in The Vale of Glamorgan, to stimulate debate about energy. All three works will be shown in the ACE2 Education Centre.
This partnership brought together creativity and environmental concerns while improving relationships between the business and the local community in the Vale of Glamorgan. RWE npower were winners for their support of this innovative creative project, gaining the Arts, Business & the Environment Award 2011.
