Betws Community Choir are continuing in our quest to sing in the local and wider community. They ended the Easter term with a performance at “Tree Tops” nursing home singing songs to the residents as well as welcoming the residents to join them in a big sing-along.
The latest venture for the choir was to sing at a concert in St John’s Church Cardiff alongside five other choirs and a drumiming group, with the aim of raising funds for the charity “Wateraid”. Betws community choir sang their songs to a large audience – the second of which was “Waka Waka’ and the audience were guided to join in with backing harmonies for the song. It was all very energized and fun! The evening raised over £700 for “Wateraid”.
The choir are now rehearsing in their temporary new home at the Sardis for the summer term – they wanted to be accessible to the general public and wondered if a change might encourage new members to join. They will be doing some local leafleting to aim to welcome new members to join – so look out for a flyer through your door!
