Betws Mural Completed

Betws Mural

We have created a large mosaic mural to brighten up the front of Bettws Life Centre in the village where we are based. This project was facilitated by our Visual Arts Worker, Nick Clements, working with children from Bettws Primary School and with help from Arts Worker Tim Smith and . This project is part of a programme of village regeneration work that includes paintings on Bettws Primary School, village Gateway stonework features and other creative improvements to the village.

Our mural is a brightly coloured depiction of the village – the road running through with the Primary School, the Bettws Boys and Girls Club, St David’s Church, The Sardis Media Centre and many other well known buildings. In amongst the buildings there are mums and children, people riding bikes, and a depiction of typical village life. The mosaics are all hand cut and shaped individually, made from the latest glass and ceramic materials. The decorative border made by the schoolchildren of Betws includes names and pictures of their friends, favourite events and local characters from the village.

This project has been supported by The Friends of Bettws Primary School, Bettws Partnership, The Communities First Trust FundBridgend County Borough Council and The Arts Council of Wales.
