Betws Mural

Betws Mural 2010

We are nearing completion of a large mosaic mural that has been created by Visual Arts Worker Nick Clements and children from Bettws Primary School to brighten up the front of Bettws Life Centre in the village where we are based. This project is part of a programme of village regeneration work that includes paintings on Bettws Primary School, village Gateway stonework features and other creative improvements to the village.

Our mural is a brightly coloured depiction of the village – the road running through with the Primary School, the Bettws Boys and Girls Club, St Davids Church, The Sardis Media Centre and many other well known buildings.  In amongst the buildings there are mums and children, people riding bikes, and a depiction of typical village life. The mosaics are all hand cut and shaped individually, made from the latest glass and ceramic materials. The decorative border was made by the school children of Betws, depicting themselves, their friends, favourite events and local characters from the village.

This project has been supported by The Friends of Bettws Primary School, Bettws Partnership, The Communities First Trust Fund and Bridgend County Borough Council.
