‘A child sings before it speaks, dances almost before it walks, music is in our hearts from the beginning.’ (Pamela Brown)
My beautiful baby boy George popped out on the 5th October 2009 and has kept me extremely busy ever since. Now it is time for me to return to my position at Valley and Vale Community Arts as a Dance Development Worker and I can say I’m feeling refreshed and ready to get back into my dancing shoes.
Having George and Millie has been truly amazing and I have learnt more patience, more strength, more understanding- these attributes I hope to bring into my work.
Over the past couple of years my job has been a journey of learning and discovering new ways that dance can change peoples lives in a varied and exciting way, be it emotionally, physically, socially or mentally. Even though my performing days are over as a professional dancer it never ceases to surprise me how dance can have such impact.
Over the next couple of months I’m aiming to get more people up and dancing and having fun. I continue to look forward to sharing the power of creative movement and dance with all our participants; but as for now I hope people continue to get the most out of my sessions as they possibly can and keep smiling! That is my main aim for the rest of 2010.
‘When the music changes – so does the dance’ (African proverb)
