Our Festive Community Celebration at Blaengarw Workmen’s Hall was a real delight. The night started with the choirs (Betws and Canton) led by local children with the lanterns they made singing ‘This Little Light of Mine’. The choirs continued with other christmas themed songs such as ‘Carol of the Bells’ and ‘There Must be an Angel’ to name a few and that set the atmosphere for the rest of the evening.
ChainFam Dance Co led the way with their high octane dance routine followed by DanceFit a local group of younger dancers. Destino Dance brought a whole new flavour to the performance with a contemporary piece and a traditional Ethiopian one which they encouraged DanceFit to join in with. Even though the young group were a little bit apprehensive at first, their beaming smiles showed that they absolutely loved it!!!
The evening might have started with the flicker of T-lights, but it ended with the crescendo of drummers and singers (with local people joining in). A fab night was had by all, and for us at Valley and Vale Community Arts, it was really great to be staging it at this popular local venue.
