We have been working in a successful partnership with Barnardo’s Cymru Seraf Service for several years, together we are offering a safe environment and creative approaches in order to support the young people. The Seraf Service, the only one of its kind in Wales, provides support to those who are at risk of or are abused through sexual exploitation. In series of workshops the young people had the opportunity to explore different art forms. This process also aims to help the young people deal with their trauma, build confidence and self-esteem. The sharing of their creative work and stories promotes greater awareness, understanding and dialogue around the issues raised.
On Thursday 6th November 2014 (from 11:00am until 12:15pm at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff) we are supporting Barnardo’s Cymru Seraf Service to launch the ‘Hear Our Voice’ project.
This event will will be officially opened by the Deputy Minister for Health, Vaughan Gething AM.
This exhibition is about young people’s experiences of growing up, their relationships, the dangers of sexual exploitation and how through the therapeutic arts they have been able to explore, process and overcome traumatic events.
This event will include music, dance and drama, all produced by young people. There will also be an exhibition of artwork and short films. Young people will be talking openly about their personal experiences and how as professionals we can better hear the voices of young people.
It will be impossible to remain untouched by this moving and uplifting exhibition of young people’s journeys.
