Magic in the Woods will keep us Warm this Summer

Raven in the Woods Event 2011

This may be the wettest Summer on record, but Valley and Vale Community Arts have a great plan for warming up people’s spirits with an exciting adventure in the woodlands:

at Bryngarw Park, Bridgend,

on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th July

10am to 4pm

The Sword in the Stone is a fun weekend event for all the family that brings together creative arts: storytelling, drama, music and crafts, mixed with a love for the outdoors, through shelter-building, fire-making and woodland expeditions.

Over the course of the weekend we will plan lots of exciting activities linked to the Arthurian legend of the Sword in the Stone. In last year’s event, The Raven in the Trees, we had a wedding, a feast, and a great battle. Although it rained, everyone had a fantastic time. Hannah, mum of two children who all attended together, said “We had an amazing time and we have told everyone what an excellent adventure we all had. Although the weather was atrocious, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and everyone gave it their all”.

Valley and Vale Community Arts will bring along a team of artists to work in the magical new Taliesin garden at Bryngarw Park. Project Manager Tracy Evans says “We are so excited about this year’s adventure in the woods working with families from all over South Wales. As a mum myself, I know what it’s like in the Summer to find things that all the family can do when it’s raining and that doesn’t cost a fortune”.

The entire weekend only costs £10 per family. Places are limited, and must be booked in advance. To find out more or to book your place please contact Valley and Vale Community Arts Admin dept on 01656 729246 or email [email protected]

This project is supported by Bridgend County Borough Council, The Arts Council of Wales and The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
