Over the last few years, Tim Smith and I have been working in sunny Porthcawl, literally always more sunny than where we had come from. We created paintings, pottery, mosaics, montages and lots, lots more, indoors and outdoors with two fab groups, one group made up of children and the other of adults.
We had a great time working with the people we met there and hope that they enjoyed it too. Unfortunately the Art Club has now come to an end and we would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the staff at the Pavilion in Porthcawl and
Bridgend County Borough Council for their support, and last but not least the people who always brought a bit of sunshine to the day (even when it did occasionally rain) – the Arts Club groups.
We had some great feedback from the participants:
“If you want to learn about Art, this is the place to be” (Anna)
“If you go to any Art Club, you wanna go to this one!” (Hannah)
“It’s the most brilliant, fantastic Art Club ever!” (Tarian)
“You can learn good stuff about Art.” (Rudder)
“Exciting, amusing and very fun.” (Jamie)
“We have good fun and draw and paint lots of things.” (Rhys)
“If you get stuck, the teachers will help you, they’re very good.” (participant)
“I just wanted to say how much I appreciated the opportunity to ‘try out’ various crafts I had been wanting to experience for some time. Having just completed two years of General Art and Drawing, it was a lovely change not to be confined by set rules and materials. I achieved my ambitions to experiment with mosaics, glass and tile painting and also card-making at no great expense to myself. I’ve discovered that I’d like to continue with paper craft techniques and take it further. I’d like to thank both Tim and Ali for their patience, support and flexibility. Thanks again Valley and Vale.” (Christine Grosvenor, participant)
