Sing for WaterAid, Cardiff – The Film

“We are singing for Wateraid because we feel it’s everybody’s right to have safe water…”

The first ever ‘Sing For Water Cardiff’ took place on Sunday 31 May 2015 in Cardiff Bay this year. Hundreds of singers from choirs all over Wales and beyond gathered together at the Oval Basin to sing together. Our Music and Voice Facilitator Laura Bradshaw organised this event with Cardiff community choir leaders and members of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network, bringing together friends, volunteers, singers, and hundreds of passionate people who believed in coming together for this great cause. ‘Sing for Water Cardiff’ worked closely with WaterAid and the Cardiff Harbour Authority to make this event a huge success.

Our Film Development Workers Tracy Pallant and Amy Peckham have made a short film documenting the last rehearsals before the big event, chatting to some choir members and choir leaders along the way, to find out how they felt with this huge coming together of different singing communities – all for the charity WaterAid – and leading up the final performances in Cardiff Bay.

We would like to dedicate the film to Peter White, a much loved member of Betws Community Choir, who sadly passed away on 31st August 2015.
