Two members of our staff are involved in a charity production of The Vagina Monologues this year. Tracy Evans, Drama Development Worker, is directing the piece as well as appearing in the line-up for a second year in a row. Melissa Thomas in our admin team has joined the cast of 7 women to perform as part of V-Day 2012.
At Valley and Vale, we are supporting the production, along with Pontardawe Arts Centre, because we support the aims and philosophy of V-Day, the organisation that Eve Ensler set up as a global movement to end violence against women and girls.
“V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organisations.” (www.vday.org)
We are encouraging as many people as possible to support the production; proceeds all go the charity (10% to V-Day charities around the world and 90% to local women’s charities). It promises to be an eye-opening, entertaining and uplifting evening!
