by Jill Scott, ‘Up and Over’ Mapping the Valleys Project
I chose to do a panel of the Viaduct, as it is on my favourite walk around the Darren. The first time I did this walk was Christmas Day 2010. This was the year most airports were closed due to snow. While on my walk in the snow, I thought of those people stranded, but knew that wherever they were trying to get to, couldn’t possibly be more beautiful than our valley. The Viaduct, is a landmark of the valley, and used to carry coal from the mines down to the Ironworks. It was restored in 2013 and I got the chance to walk over it.
